Sapphire Peel Purifying Peel

A peel for people who have been told peels are not for them.

The acid here is gluconolactone, a PHA. PHA molecules are considerably larger than glycolic acid, so they work at the surface and penetrate slowly — much of the resurfacing with far less of the sting. Gluconolactone also holds water, which is unusual for an exfoliant.

Alongside it, salicylic acid to clear pores, niacinamide and zinc PCA for oil and tone, and ectoin to keep the whole thing comfortable.

Who it suits

Dullness, congestion and rough texture on skin that has reacted badly to stronger acids. A sensible first peel.

Which exfoliant to choose

• Sapphire Peel — the gentlest. PHA, for sensitive or peel-nervous skin.
• Fruit Enzyme — enzymes rather than acids, for anyone avoiding acids entirely.

How to use

At night, on clean dry skin. Once or twice a week to begin. Daily sunscreen is essential with any exfoliant.
