Petrolatum sits second on the ingredient list. It is unfashionable and it is still the most effective occlusive available — it reduces water loss through the skin by around 99%, which nothing botanical comes close to. Shea butter sits just behind it.

Underneath, the complete barrier lipid set: three ceramides — NP, AP and EOP — with cholesterol and phytosphingosine. Skin rebuilds its barrier from those lipids in roughly fixed proportion; supplying all of them is the difference between repairing a barrier and merely covering it.

Colloidal oatmeal (Avena Sativa kernel flour) is included for its long-standing use in calming itch and irritation, and pearl powder gives the cream its name.

Fragrance-free — genuinely

There is no fragrance and no essential oil in this formula. It does carry a faint natural scent of its own from the pearl powder and oat, which is the ingredients themselves rather than anything added.

If you are reacting to products and working out why, fragrance is the usual culprit, and this is a cream you can use while you investigate.

An honest note on “radiance”

The glow from this cream comes from hydration and a smooth, intact surface — skin that is not flaking reflects light evenly. There is no pigment-inhibiting active here. If uneven tone is your concern, PlasmaBright TX-K or the Porcelain Ampoule Set are built for that.

Which barrier cream to choose

Choose Pearl Gleam when skin is at its worst and you want the heaviest, fragrance-free option. Choose Luminizing II for ceramide repair in a lighter everyday texture.

How to use

Last step at night, on slightly damp skin. Morning too while skin is recovering.
